Russian photographer says IBU refuses to cooperate with him because of nationality

Russian photographer Evgeny Tumashov said that the International Biathlon Union (IBU) stopped working with him. It is reported by “Soviet sport”.

According to the Russian, the organization made this decision because of his citizenship. “IBU chief of photography, Christian Manzoni, said that they care about the safety of the competition and my presence at the shooting range as a photographer raises some concerns,” Tumashov said.

The Russian suggested that the IBU was afraid that one of the athletes might shoot him. Tumashov also added that the attitude towards him has changed dramatically at the competitions in Finland. “Many, when they saw me, immediately became serious and, it seemed to me, callous. Some did not even say hello, they passed by, ”said the photographer.

On March 2, the IBU suspended Russian and Belarusian athletes from competitions. On March 17, the organization will discuss the issue of suspending the membership of the Russian Biathlon Union (RBU).
