The State Duma reacted to the removal of Russian Paralympians from the Games in Beijing

Deputy Chairman of the State Duma Sports Committee Sergei Burlakov called low, insensitive and disgusting the decision of the International Paralympic Committee (IPC) to remove Russian athletes from participation in the 2022 Games in Beijing. This was reported in the Telegram channel of the United Russia party.

According to him, at first, sports organizations literally took up arms against the young Russian figure skater Kamila Valieva, and now they have taken up the Paralympic athletes.

“The masks have been torn off. What kind of tolerance and humanity is the West talking about if they recoup on athletes with disabilities. The main goal of sport is to bring good to the world and unite people,” the deputy reacted, stressing that by his decision the IPC violated all the foundations of the Olympic movement.

On March 3, the IPC refused to allow Russian athletes to compete at the 2022 Games. The decision was changed due to the fact that the national committees opposed the participation of Russia in the competition.

Games will be held from 4 to 12 March. 71 athletes from Russia were supposed to take part in the competition.
