Marco Rose, coach of the Borussia Dortmund, believes that much more must be done to prevent fans from invading the pitch at the games at the German team’s stadium.
“There should be no gaps by which three or four people take the field in every game,” said Rose after their 2-0 win over Ingolstad in the German Cup.
Marco Rose himself intervened on Tuesday when a Dortmund fan took the field after the final whistle and asked Brazilian midfielder Reinier for his shirt.
A similar incident occurred a few weeks ago when Norwegian striker Erling Haaland handed his shirt over to another fan who accosted him while celebrating a goal.
“We need to find a solution so that this doesn’t happen every weekend,” said the coach, who accompanied the fan who invaded the pitch on Tuesday to avoid a violent action by security.
“I can understand that fans try to have a shirt, but everyone knows that we should avoid it,” he added.
Although Dortmund’s Signal Iduna Park stadium has a capacity of 80,000 people, “we would have a lot of problems if 80,000 people acted that way,” said Rose.
