Spartak made a statement after being excluded from the Europa League

Spartak Moscow issued a statement regarding the decision of the International Football Federation (FIFA), according to which Russian teams lost the right to participate in international tournaments. The text is available on the Red-White website.

“Sport, from our point of view, should build bridges, not burn them,” Spartak said in a statement. The club expressed disagreement with the position of FIFA and the Union of European Football Associations (UEFA) and stressed that it was forced to comply with the decision of the organizations.

Spartak was the last Russian club in European competition this season. The red-whites were supposed to play against RB Leipzig in the 1/8 finals of the Europa League.

Earlier, FIFA, together with UEFA, excluded Russian national teams and clubs from international tournaments. The Russian team has lost the right to continue the fight for access to the World Cup in Qatar.
