Disturbing scenes were witnessed on the night of Sunday, February 27, by two minors, aged 15 and 11, in Baba, Los Ríos. They witnessed an alleged femicide and subsequent suicide of their father.
The bloodshed occurred in the Candilejo compound, belonging to the Baba canton.
The victim was identified as Virginia Andreína Peralta Franco, 32 years old.

She died as a result of two shots that the father of her children apparently fired at her with a cartridge belt, according to witnesses.
Pablo Muñoz García, the alleged perpetrator, committed suicide using the same cartridge belt with which he killed his partner.
Relatives of the 49-year-old man reported that Pablo Muñoz worked as a caretaker at the farm where the tragedy occurred. They also reported that he, apparently, was consuming liquor before attacking the woman.
Both corpses were taken to the Babahoyo morgue and on Monday morning they were removed by their relatives.

Outside the site, relatives of the deceased said they were unaware that there was physical violence by the man, so they said they were dismayed by the fact of blood.
This is the first case of femicide so far in 2022 in the province of Los Ríos, according to police statistics. (I)
