– The FIVB is working closely with the Russian volleyball federation and organizing committee in preparation for the various volleyball and beach volleyball events to be held in the country. They are all going according to plan – we read in the FIVB statement.

This decision was met with harsh reactions from the entire volleyball community. They expressed their negative surprise, among others Earvin Ngapeth and Bruno Rezende. Now the star of the Polish national team has joined this group – an experienced attacker protested on his social media against the war in Ukraine.

– I never even imagined that I would have to write this in my life. STOP THE WAR !!! – wrote Bartosz Kurek on Instagram. The Polish volleyball player also posted a graphic with the slogan “Stop the war in Ukraine”.

Kurek also referred to the decision of the FIVB, which does not intend to take away the volleyball world championship from Russia in 2022, at least for now. There is no doubt about the MVP of the 2018 championship – he will not perform in Russia.

– When it comes to volleyball, which in this situation is the last thing that counts, but #noWC (No World Championships) for me, dear FIVB – added Kurek.
