It was a hit in name only. The duel of fans of both clubs probably electrified them somehow, but to a lesser extent than usual. First, both teams found themselves embroiled in a desperate struggle to maintain. Secondly, the thoughts of many fans were certainly not focused on the match, but on the tragedy that is taking place in connection with Russia’s attack on this country. At such moments, the ball must be relegated to the background, regardless of the rank of the game.
There were also gestures of solidarity with Ukraine during the match. Before the game, the players stood behind the banner “No more war”. The fans also added their own. In its own way, of course. When the video on which Ihor Charatin thanks for Ukraine’s support was presented on the big screen, fans of both bands roared “ruska k ….”. There was also vulgar chants aimed at Vladimir Putin.
“He’s to blame for it, get the f *** out of here he should”
The thoughts of Legia fans were focused on one more issue. A symbolic farewell to Dariusz Mioduski. The president of Legia – let’s not be afraid of this word – hated by many fans, could hear a lot about himself during this meeting. It started with a protest in front of the stadium. The protest started over an hour before the game. Several hundred fans of Legia Warsaw marched down the street. They carried a banner with the text “Dariusz, off!”. There were also a lot of chants aimed at the owner of the Legia. “Hey, Mioduski, what have you done? Our Legiê spier *** i ve”, “Mioduski won”, “Dubu dub, lubu dubu, get *** out of this club”, “There is a wheelbarrow waiting for you” – these are just some from the shouts of Legia fans who gathered in front of the main stand. The vast majority of them wore black T-shirts with the words “Mioduski won” specially prepared for the occasion. The fans adapted to the ultras’ appeal and donned black colors.
The Ultras have also prepared a special setting. They formed the word “won” out of white flags, and the banner read “You had a golden horn, you boy, stop us fucking destroy the club.” Moments later, the legionnaires lit smoke candles and black clouds hung for a moment over both teams. The match started with a delay of about three minutes. From the very beginning, Legia’s fans focused on chants towards Dariusz Mioduski. For 45 minutes, Legia fans repeated chants and shouts aimed at the president like a mantra. They were interrupted by blasphemies towards the Vistula and again to Vladimir Putin. The sentiment did not change quickly with the goal for Legia. At Tomas Pekhart’s goal from the seventh minute, Legia fans reacted with a thunderous “Legia play, f *** a mać”.
The weak Legia beat the very weak Wisła. “Biała Gwiazda” is getting closer to the first league
On the pitch, Legia did not impress, but it was she who led and created new situations. As for the Vistula River, what we wrote about a few days ago has, in a way, been confirmed. “White Star” looked better than in the first two games. She tried to create, she even created one convenient situation, but that’s about it. Too little to think about a favorable result in Warsaw and an effective fight for livelihood. In the first half, she gave zero shots on target. In the second part, the picture of the game has not changed. Sometimes the pitch was chaotic. Lots of losses, inaccurate plays, broken key balls. And the culmination of it all was the goal for Wisła. A perfect illustration of why Legia was looking for a goalkeeper during the winter break. After Wisła scored a goal, both teams focused on not making a mistake and hoping that the opponent would give the goal-scoring situations. And Wisła made a mistake. “Biała Gwiazda” lost 1: 2 after a goal in added time.
After the game, Wisła’s players surrounded the referee with complaints about the recognition of the goal. In the meantime, Michal Frydrych received a red card, who threw the ball at the referee. The legionnaires, on the other hand, enjoyed themselves in their own company. They finally have a win torn in the last minutes. Interestingly, the fans of Legia said goodbye to their players with the thunderous “Legia play, f *** a mać”, while the fans of Wisła shouted: “We still believe, gentlemen, we still do.”
After three and a half years of rule by Jakub Błaszczykowski, Jarosław Królewski and Tomasz Jażdżyński, the Vistula River is close to a decline as never in the 21st century. For about three years, the Vistula looked into the abyss and it finally began to look at her. If a catastrophe takes place, it is quite possible that protests, “happenings” and settings similar to those presented by the legionnaires will begin to be prepared by the Vistula rivers.
The greatest optimist is Jarosław Królewski, who simply writes on Twitter: “We will not fall”. What are the football arguments for this? It’s really hard to say. Wisła lost in the ending on Friday, but overall, it is still one of the main candidates for relegation. And only the fans are sorry, who appeared in large numbers in Warsaw and cheered their team to the end. They kept the club afloat for a long time, saved it from collapsing, and now they are looking at the soccer agony.
