In the 27th round of games starting on Thursday, only one match is to take place in Russia – this is the Friday meeting of Zenit Saint Petersburg, in which Mateusz Ponitka, the best Polish basketball player, plays against Barcelona. Two days later, on Sunday, the Spaniards are to play in Moscow against CSKA.
On Thursday morning the Spanish “Marca” informed that due to the fact that the Euroleague had not decided to cancel the matches in Russia, Barcelona’s basketball players were getting ready to leave. This one was scheduled for At 14.30, however, a few minutes before boarding a private plane, the club decided that the basketball players would not fly to Russia on Thursday.
“Well, I don’t want to go to Russia …” – wrote Alex Abrines from Barcelona before noon. “The truth is, it makes no sense to go to Russia and see if they are happy about it,” he added.
The club has not made a final decision as to whether it will fly to Russia or not. Theoretically, he can do it on Friday morning and make it to the evening game in St. Petersburg. Barcelona officials have scheduled several meetings for Thursday’s decisions to help them make their final decision.
Barcelona leads the Euroleague table with 20 wins and 5 losses. Zenit (14-9) is fifth and CSKA (14-10) sixth.
