Some of the videos from the event contain errors – users of Tik Tok sign it as “bored of the game against the eight-year-old world champion”. Meanwhile, the recording comes from the period when the Norwegian chess player was thirteen years old.
A video with young Carlsen and Kasparov conquers the network. Over 100 million views
The video shows the focus of his moves against Carlsen and the insolence of his rival, who looks bored with the game and gets up from the table waiting for his opponent to move.
Entries with this video published in February already have well over 100 million views and are still published by subsequent users of the application, as well as other social media – Twitter, Instagram or YouTube.
And this scene is completely nothing new. It comes from 2004 and the tournament in Reykjavik, when Carlsen (the current world champion since 2013) and Kasparov (won the title in 1985-93) faced each other for the first time. It was recorded much earlier and later used for the film “Prince of Chess” made by NRK TV and published in 2016. The original recording lasts over four minutes, which is much longer than the clip posted on social media.
“These chess pieces are different than in the days of Fischer and Kasparov”
The match in the Reykjavik Rapid tournament ended in a sensational draw, although after twenty minutes Carlsen had a clear advantage and it was said that he could dominate Kasparov. Then, however, the Russian came to the fore and, despite great pressure, averted the risk of embarrassment. He had a lot to lose, while Carlsen could only gain from a meeting with the champion.
Eighteen years have passed and Carlsen is already compared to Kasparov. “Can you call him someone like legends like Bobby Fischer and Garri Kasparov?” -. – Definitely yes! – replied the vice-president of the Polish Chess Federation. Carlsen did not win the world title once, he did it many times. He is the best in both classic and rapid chess. He is called the Mozart of Chess, rightly so without a doubt. These chess pieces are different than in the times of Fischer and Kasparov, because there is more access to information, there is a lot of computer work, and there is a large group of people around the master. Diet is important, a sports lifestyle is important, today a chess player has a training similar to a footballer or a swimmer, he also has to take care of his physical condition, not only mental – described the activist.
