Legia may lose its 30-year lease. By Mioduski. “They are asking for a breach of contract”

What is this all about? In 2019, the company Legia Tenis was established, which was entirely owned by Legia Warszawa SA. On the basis of an application from the football club Legia, the Council of Warsaw decided to grant a 30-year lease of courts adjacent to the stadium of the Warsaw club without a tender.

Two years later, after signing the lease, the club sold the courts to the WAWA Group company. Interestingly, it is also owned by the owner and president of Legia – Dariusz Mioduski – and the supervisory board also includes his wife and daughter. During the match with Warta Poznań on the “Żylet”, where the most ardent Legia fans sit, a banner appeared, informing about the sale.

Following the turmoil that arose in the case, Mioduski issued a statement in which he denied that the sale of the courts to his private company was allegedly illegal or aimed at his private benefit.

– In order to simultaneously implement an ambitious complex management program and simultaneously realize multi-million investments, it is necessary to acquire partners and external financing. It was the only reason for the formal transfer of Legia Tenis to another entity, in which, like in Legia Warszawa SA, I am the owner of 100 percent. shares – he wrote in a statement published by the football club.

Mioduski’s statement did not go unanswered. “The city rarely agrees to conclude a long-term lease agreement. This only takes place if the partner is proven and reliable, as in this case when it comes to a Warsaw sports club with a 100-year history” – wrote a spokeswoman for the Capital City of Warsaw. Of Warsaw, Monika Beuth-Lutyk.

And she added: “We demand explanations from Legia, restoration of the legal and factual order, on the basis of which, in the best faith, the contract for the lease of the courts at Myśliwiecka street was concluded”.

Legia will lose the lease of courts?

On Wednesday, the sports committee of the Warsaw Council was held, during which the issue of changing the ownership of the courts was dealt with. “Great emotions on the sports committee of the Warsaw Council. Councilors and vice-president Renata Kaznowska indignantly comment on the sale to Dariusz Mioduski by Legia Warszawa of shares in the company Legia Tenis, which has a 30-year lease of courts at Łazienkowska Street. The councilors demand that the contract be terminated” – wrote the journalist on Twitter. Gazeta Stołeczna “, Michał Wojtczuk.

“At the Sports Commission, we have just learned that in the land lease agreement for Legia Tenis, there were no provisions guaranteeing the inability to resell the company to other entities (no provision on the required city consent for the resale of the company)” – added Michał Szpądrowski.

Ultimately, the Commission for Sport, Recreation and Tourism of the Council of the Capital City of Warsaw unanimously adopted the position in which it expects the restoration of the ownership status of Legia Tenis and threatened Mioduski with a request to the President of Warsaw to terminate the lease of Legia’s courts. The deadline for the restoration of the ownership status has been set for March 7.

“We consider the sale of shares without informing the lessor as a drastic breach of trust, which is necessary in the case of entities bound by a 30-year contract” -.
