Last weekend, Petro de Luanda eliminated Otôho d’Oyo, from Congo, and qualified for the group stage of the African Champions League. One of the four Brazilians present in the cast is defensive midfielder Soares, who last season played for Cluj, in Romania.
“In the first games on the team I felt a little, because it’s a different kind of football than in Europe, but I’m fine, I’m always playing and helping my colleagues to pursue the team’s goals, which are to play in the main competitions in the country and the continent.”
After working at Vila Nova, at the beginning of his career, Soares played for 11 consecutive seasons in European football, playing for seven Portuguese teams, one Spanish and lastly the Romanian team. The player is playing for the first time on the African continent and has already become the team’s absolute titleholder.
“I’m already feeling pretty calm, my whole family is already here, but in the first days we arrived in the country, we had a normal shock, as it was the first time in the country and on the continent. We’re enjoying this experience, now it’s time for the work to continue, because there’s a lot ahead of us and I hope to make history at Petro.”
