Fabinho recovers at Liverpool and Thiago Alcântara is still not 100%

After adding successive victories away from home, Liverpool face Preston, for the English League Cup. The match is scheduled for 15:45 (GMT) on Wednesday.

For the next duels, the team commanded by Jurgen Klopp will not have some players who are in the Medical Department. James Milner is out after suffering a hamstring injury at Old Trafford against Manchester United, while Naby Keita is recovering from the injury that forced him to retire in the same game.

Fabinho, with a knee injury, wants to come back for the next match, at home, against Brighton, in the English Championship. Thiago Alcantara, with calf pain, is not yet ready to return.

At a press conference this Tuesday, assistant coach Pepjin Lijnders built the ideal scenario for the Reds succeed against Preston and beyond the season.

“One of the points is consistency, being good in the first game and in the last game. We want that stability. And the second is to use the team at the right times”, said the Dutchman.

“We need consistency in our ideas, the way we want to play, the way we want to prepare, the way we want to show our mindset. And if you want a team that shows hunger, that shows a willingness to put their game in place, to be dominant and control the game that way, you need a qualified squad”, he added.
