Football club CSKA came under US sanctions

The Russian football club CSKA came under US sanctions as an asset of VEB Bank. This was reported by the US Treasury Department, reports RIA Novosti.

The Russian Export Center, the BelVEB bank located in Belarus and the Ukrainian Prominvestbank fell under the restrictions.
Restrictions were imposed on five vessels of PSB Leasing, a subsidiary of Promsvyazbank. We are talking about the cargo ship Baltic Leader, oil tankers Linda and Pegas, as well as container ships Fesco Magadan and Fesco Moneron.

The Financial Department also ordered American companies and individuals to complete transactions with VEB by March 24, 2024.

Earlier, the US Treasury confirmed the imposition of sanctions against Russian banks VEB and Promsvyazbank, as well as their 42 subsidiaries.

Prior to this, US President Joe Biden announced the imposition of sanctions against Russia. According to him, on Wednesday, blocking restrictions will be introduced against Russian elites and banks, and will also affect public debt. The head of the American state stressed that the sanctions will be tightened depending on the actions of Moscow in Ukraine and will be much stronger than those introduced by the United States in 2014.

Over the past few months, Kiev and Western countries have been accusing Russia of pulling troops to the borders of Ukraine and preparing a military offensive. Moscow has repeatedly denied the existence of such aggressive plans. According to Russian President Vladimir Putin, NATO’s statements about the impending “invasion” are alarmist.
