quit after the end of last season. He spent a total of 11 years in the club with Dortmund and can be described as a club legend. The 36-year-old played in the times of the greatest successes of Borussia in the 21st century, so he shared which match aroused the most emotions in him.
Łukasz Piszczek on winning the German Cup final: I stopped in the middle of the pitch. For me it was a perfect farewell to Borussia
– Each title was emotional and important to me. What I will remember forever is the victory with Leipzig in the German Cup (May 13, 2021 – editor’s note) It was not an easy season for me. I didn’t play much because the coach believed in others. In the last five rounds and the German Cup, I really wanted to show that I have great skills and can help the team – said Piszczek in the Sport1 podcast “Die Dortmund-Woche”.
In the spring of last season, BVB under the leadership of interim coach Edin Terzic had big problems in the league. Dortmunds came only third in it, behind and RB Leipzig. The only chance to win the trophy was the German Cup. The meeting with Leipzig in the final was especially important, because from 2017 the club only won the German Super Cup. Ultimately, Borussia won 4: 1 after two goals from Jadon Sancho and Erling Haaland.
– When he scored the fourth goal, everyone ran to him. I stopped in the middle of the field and cried. I do not know why. Then I realized that we would really win the German Cup. It was pure emotion. For me it was a perfect farewell to Borussia – summed up the former Polish representative.
Łukasz Piszczek went to Borussia Dortmund in 2010. In the colors of this club, he won 382 matches and won two championships, three German Cups and three super cups. In the 2012/2013 season, he also played in the Champions League final, in which BVB lost 1: 2 to Bayern.
