The head of the Federation of Computer Sports (FCS) Dmitry Smith expects that esports will eventually be included in the program of the Olympic Games. He announced this in an interview with URA.RU.
The functionary believed that esports would inevitably become part of the Olympics. Smith stressed that the federation wants to speed up the process and is already working in this direction. In his opinion, the inclusion of e-sports in the Games program is a matter of time.
“Esports has too large an audience. In addition, the Olympics position sports outside of politics. Esports is great for this. Almost every team has athletes of different nationalities, ”said Smith.
At the same time, the Olympic champion and State Duma deputy Svetlana Zhurova considers the development of e-sports in Russia harmful. According to the parliamentarian, the growing popularity of the new discipline will deprive Russia of future Olympic champions.
