February 19 is the last day of Polish sportsmen’s performances at It was supposed to be a special day, because the Polish team had the first time in the history of the Olympic Games to appear in the team competition in the parallel slalom. It was possible thanks to the excellent form of Maryna Gsienicy-Daniel in the World Cup. The Polish team could start in a mixed competition. The team was composed of Magdalena Uczak, Micha Jasiczek and Pawe Pyjas. In 1/8 finals they competed with Norway – bronze medalists from previous games.
They had, but all plans were blighted by the weather. There were two obstacles – a strong wind and an exceptional sea temperature. The perceived temperature is around minus 30 degrees Celsius. The jury postponed the start of the competition to later hours (although they had to start earlier than planned due to the weather), but eventually they had to give up. “Due to the constant gusts of wind and the updated weather forecast, the jury and the organizer are not able to organize the team competition in alpine skiing today. Additional information will be provided soon” – we read in a short release.

Poles got to know the new date of the team competition. But there is a big problem
Eventually, the meetings ended with the appointment of a new date. The competition is scheduled for the last day of the Games – February 20 at 2 a.m. Polish time. However, whether the competition will take place is still under a big question mark. The weather forecasts are not optimistic. The perceived temperature is still around minus 30 degrees. In turn, gusts of wind may reach speeds of up to 20 meters per second. In such conditions, it seems impossible to conduct a competition.
