The President of the International Olympic Committee (IOC), Thomas Bach, criticized the coaches of the Russian figure skater Kamila Valieva for being cold after her performance in the free program of the Olympics. His words are reported by RIA Novosti.
“I saw how coldly she was received from the ice by her coaches. They did not create comfort for her, they spoke to her very coldly. It just shocked me, it was some kind of separation gesture, ”Bach was surprised, admitting that this made a strong impression on him. “I don’t understand how you can be so cold towards this girl,” he added.
According to the President of the IOC, this situation does not give him confidence in the environment of the athlete and in her future. For now, one can only hope the experience doesn’t become “really dramatic” for her, Bach stressed.
According to the results of the personal figure skating tournament at the Olympics, Kamila Valieva took fourth place with 224.09 points. She fell twice and made several mistakes, while the athlete was in the lead after the short program.
