Pumas celebrated with a goal from Washington Corozo, but Saprissa prevented victory in the Concacaf Champions

At the Ricardo Saprissa stadium, Costa Rica’s Saprissa came from behind on two occasions to draw 2-2 with Mexico’s Pumas, who twice lost the lead on the scoreboard.

The Pumas made it 1-0 in the 28th minute with a header from Ecuadorian striker Washington Corozo off a pass from Alan Mozo.

Saprissa’s 1-1 fell to 45+3 with a penalty executed by Christian Bolaños.

The Mexican squad regained the lead in the 72nd minute with a 2-1 scoreline that Argentine Juan Dinenno, a former Barcelona SC and Deportivo Cuenca player, achieved with a shot from the front line of the area.

At minute 75, Bolaños appeared in the Pumas area to finish off a ball rejected by the goalkeeper from close range and make it 2-2 for Saprissa.

The second leg of these Concacaf Champions Round of 16 between the felines and the Purple Monster will be played on Wednesday, February 23 at the Olympic University Stadium in Mexico City.

The Ecuadorian Corozo accumulates four appearances these first two months of 2022 playing the Clausura 2022 tournament of Liga MX and a match for the Concacaf Champions. (D)
