In Russia, an appointment with a psychiatrist for those who have recovered from coronavirus is planned to be included in the clinical examination

Representatives of the Ministry of Health of the Russian Federation will consider the possibility of including a psychiatrist’s consultation in the list of free services as part of in-depth medical examinations for citizens who have had coronavirus. This was reported by TASS with reference to the head of the Federation Council Committee on Social Policy Inna Svyatenko.

According to Svyatenko, this will be done, among other things, in order to prevent the patient from developing depression and memory problems. The mechanism for the inclusion of psychiatric services in the medical examination will be developed by the Ministry of Health and the President of the National Medical Research Center for Psychiatry and Narcology. Svyatenko clarified that then a patient who has recovered from COVID-19 will be able to receive a questionnaire from a therapist, according to the results of which he will be offered to undergo examinations from specialized specialists.

Earlier, Speaker of the Federation Council Valentina Matvienko instructed the senators, together with the Ministry of Health, to work out the issue of including psychiatric rehabilitation in the compulsory medical insurance policy for those who have recovered from the coronavirus. “We must remember this and understand that psychiatric rehabilitation should be included (in the compulsory medical insurance policy), like other types of post-COVID rehabilitation. I support the proposal to instruct the committee on social policy, together with the Ministry of Health, to consider the inclusion of such assistance in compulsory medical insurance, ”said Matvienko.

According to Igor Nikitin, director of the National Medical Research Center “Treatment and Rehabilitation Center” of the Ministry of Health of the Russian Federation, the main signs of post-COVID syndrome are increased fatigue, sweating and impaired attention.
