Cristiano scores again, Manchester United beats Brighton and enters the English G4

This Tuesday, the Manchester United beat Brighton, at home, 2-0, in a late clash of the 18th round of the Premier League. Cristiano Ronaldo, who had not scored in six matches, and Bruno Fernandes scored at Old Trafford.

As a result, the red devils entered the G4 of the English Championship: they occupy the 4th position and have 43 points. The club from the south of the country, which has 33, continues in 9th place.

Manchester return to the field on Sunday, at 11:00 (Brasília time), when they visit Leeds United. Brighton, meanwhile, host Burnley on Saturday at noon.

The game – In the first half, Ralf Rangnick’s Manchester United came under pressure from Brighton, led by Graham Potter. The visitors, who almost opened the scoring, advanced their lines, dominated possession of the ball and played in the field of red devils. In this way, they made exits difficult and complicated the construction of plays for the home team.

At six in the second half, the hosts opened the scoring with a beautiful goal from Cristiano. The star took advantage of Scott McTominay’s tackle, carried the ball, dribbled a defender and, from the half moon, finished hard in the left corner of the goalkeeper, at half height, with no chance of defense. Three minutes later, Lewis Dunk lost possession and tackled Anthony Elanga at the edge of the area. After consulting VAR, the defender was sent off.

With one less, Brighton needed to reinvent themselves and mainly bet on the speed of young Tariq Lamptey, on the right, for the counterattacks. However, United, under the command of the Portuguese ace, more participative, continued to press and nullified most of the threats.

Better in the second half, and even wasting clear opportunities, the team still secured the 2-0 at the end, with Fernandes. The Portuguese shot at speed after a quick free kick from Paul Pogba, passed the goalkeeper and only completed it to the bottom of the goal.
