The weekly “Polityka” informed yesterday about the death of Daniel Passent – a journalist, author of a dozen or so books, and the Polish ambassador to Chile. – We regret to inform you that Daniel Passent, a lifelong author associated with the Polityka weekly, columnist, blogger, our colleague, has passed away – the editorial office of Polityka, with whom Passent was associated since 1959, has passed.
“Am I good for this?”
For nearly eight years, Passent was associated with Agnieszka Osiecka. When they met in the early 1970s, they were both in relationships. However, they quickly ended this relationship and began living together. At that time, Osiecka had already had two unsuccessful marriages behind her. In the years 1963-1964 she was the wife of the film producer Wojciech Frykowski. In turn, from 1966 to 1970, her husband was director Wojciech Jesionka.
Passent and Osiecka were like “fire and water”. More separated them than they had in common. She – restless and emotional, while he – orderly and sedate. – He is excruciatingly sensitive and irritable. If I take someone like that on my head, I have to sit seriously with him and be okay. But am I suitable for this? – the artist wrote about her partner.
Happy love was not interesting to her
On the one hand, Osiecka dreamed of a family, on the other – she was afraid of such a life. – Agnieszka was associated with many men. After me, she also had a love life. It is difficult to say which of the men was most important to her. Perhaps I satisfied this need to create a normal home, family home, with soup – said Daniel Passent in an interview with “Women’s Empire”.
As the artist’s relatives said, happy love was not interesting for her. – Home, baby, diapers, soups – it bored her – said Maryla Rodowicz in an interview for “Beauty of Life”. It is worth mentioning that in 1973 the daughter of Passent and Osiecka – Agata was born.
“I was left alone with my daughter in this house”
Eventually, after almost eight years, the couple broke up. The poet fell in love with another man – Zbigniew Mentzel. However, she wanted her daughter to stay with her father after the separation. She herself returned to her mother’s house in Saska Kępa.
It was one of the most difficult periods in a journalist’s life. – I was desperate. I was left alone with my daughter in this house, which we had built in Żoliborz. Agnieszka believed that it would be better for Agata. She herself returned to Saska Kępa, to her mother. I did not know how I would manage – he said.
Ultimately, however, Passent found happiness with Marta Dobromirska-Passent. They were together for over 30 years until his death.
