FIFA confirms that the 2022 World Cup draw will be on April 1 in Doha: media

FIFA confirmed this Tuesday for April 1, in Doha, the draw for the 2022 Qatar World Cup, according to international media.

The event will take place within the framework of the 72nd Congress of the rector of world football, which takes place every year.

By that date, the UEFA teams that qualify for the World Cup through the European playoffs will be known, since the duels will be at the end of March. However, the expectation will remain for the intercontinental playoffs of the Conmebol, Concacaf, OFC (Oceania Football Confederation) and AFC (Asian Football Confederation) teams, whose keys are scheduled for June.

For the last time, 32 teams will compete in the FIFA World Cup, since from the 2026 edition the number of participants will grow to 48.

The national casts will be divided into four pots, of eight teams each according to their position in the FIFA ladder. In the first group will be the host, Qatar. None of the drums can have more than two teams from the same confederation, except for UEFA, which has two representatives per zone.

At the moment, there are 15 teams that already have a place in Qatar: the host, two from South America (Brazil and Argentina), ten from Europe (Germany, Denmark, France, Belgium, Croatia, Spain, Serbia, England, Switzerland and the Netherlands ) and two from Asia (Iran and South Korea).
