The first time she designed an outfit for the mayor Cynthia Viteri it was two years ago. Since then, there have been several occasions in which the Ecuadorian designer Bartholomew he has made suits for Viteri; The most recent were the two dresses that she wore for the wedding held this Monday, February 14, at Las Valentinas, with his current partner, Juan Carlos Váscones.

“I’ve made some special occasion outfits for her. And the video of her final outfit was uploaded after the wedding. She contacted me her sister, who is in charge of the stylish her. What she really wanted was to be comfortable. There were several design options that I had already done before. But all my dresses are personalized, I don’t repeat dresses or fabrics, and I know that brides don’t like to repeat designs”, details the 29-year-old creative.

Bartolomé confirms that the dress worn by the model Bella Hadid at the 2020 Cannes Film Festival, from the British firm Ralph & Russo, served as the inspiration for the one Viteri wore.

“When they proposed the option of Bella Hadid, she obviously gave it the most bridal touch, with applications of pearls, cut flowers and strategically glued by hand so that it has that asymmetrical cut, which accompanies the linear, embroidered, colored fabric. ivory; the background was like a tulle naked with white Venetian tulle, so that they contrast and look a little more transparent”, says Bartolomé.

Viteri’s dress was longer than the design from which it was inspired; she had a cape on the right side, with linear applications, with a veil of almost six meters and pearls, embroidered one by one, about 10,000, which were on the veil. “She has always liked layers, fabrics that fly, she is a lover of layers, of those asymmetrical cuts, she loves them. She wanted to be comfortable and we gave her that touch of flowers, pearls. We did three tests: the first, on the waist; the second, to verify that the size is correct; and the third and last one, with all the accessories, to verify that everything is fine and no adjustments are needed,” she says.

Bartolomé also designed the second dress that she wore at the Viteri party. This was a silk design, with adjustable straps in the back. “She wanted to highlight the tattoos that she has, she loves her tattoos. It was much more comfortable, already for the dance”, he adds.
