For this season the Italian house Gios will be the supplier of the bicycles, while the clothing will be in charge of Tim’s and the helmets of the French Ekoï, part of a annual budget of $450,000.

The national squad includes a squad of 14 runners, of these two are youth, two women under-23 and 10 professional elite, with contribution from Colombian Ruben Urbano, and everyone led by the experienced Byron Guamáfour times winner of the Tour of Ecuador.

Also part of the payroll are Jhonny Correa, Jimmy Quimbiamba, Jonathan Montenegro, Joel Fuertes, Erick Caiza, Pablo Caicedo, Mateo López, Erick Pozo, Santiago Montenegro, champion of the Vuelta in 2020, and Sebastián Novoa, bronze in the Pan American Road elite 2021.

In ladies, Cuencana Ana Vivar joins (18 years old), national champion in track and route, and the capital Marcela Penafiel (18 years old), champion of the Tour of Youth in 2020.

“The postponement of the races did not force us to extend the physical preparation, now we have the national ones but we will always have the Tour of Ecuador as the big goal of the yeartwo years have already eluded us but we hope that this 2022 will be ours”, Andrade pointed out.

There is a lot of experience in the team, but also young elements, all with a lot of talent in search of consolidating a good season, there are important objectives, unfortunately the suspension of races in Argentina, Costa Rica and Chile complicated our preparation, but we will get to the nationals well, that is our first big goal of the year”, commented Novoa.

Completed the performance of the team in the cycling nationals, the calendar will continue with the National Cupa series of scoring tests for the local ranking, and the selective for the Pan American Road in Uruguay, in April. (D)
