Olympic champion opposed Valieva’s further participation in the 2022 Games

Olympic champion in figure skating in 2010, Korean Kim Yoo Na on Instagram commented on the decision of the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS) to allow Russian Kamila Valieva to continue participating in the Beijing Olympics.

The ex-figure skater opposed Valieva’s participation in the Olympics. “Athletes who violate anti-doping rules cannot compete. This principle must be observed for everyone without exception, ”the former athlete wrote. She added that the work and dreams of all athletes are equally valuable.

Earlier, the International Olympic Committee (IOC) announced that it would not award the winner and prize-winners of the women’s individual tournament of the Olympic Games in Beijing if Valieva gets on the podium. Also, the organization refused to award medals for the team tournament, in which the Russians were the first. The IOC promised to hold ceremonies after the completion of the investigation into the Valieva case.

On February 14, the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS) lifted Valieva’s temporary suspension. The figure skater was allowed to participate in the individual tournament at the Olympic Games. The reason was the status of the “protected person” of the athlete and the late notification of a positive doping test.

Valieva’s dubious doping test became known on February 9. In the test of the athlete, passed during the Russian Championship in December, they found a microdose of trimetazidine.
