The 21st round turned out to be the one in which two previous “strongholds” in the Ekstraklasa fell. A day later, the fortress in Płock fell, where the local Wisła scored 26 points out of 30 possible this season by Sunday.
Piast won in Płock. Wilczek’s goal, Kądzior’s unused penalty
Playing without Damian Warchoł and Rafał Wolski from the beginning of the match against Piast did not look good. Already in the third minute of the game in the hosts’ penalty area, Piotr Tomasik played the ball with his hand and the team from Gliwice received a penalty kick. However, it was not used by Damian Kądzior, whose shot was perfectly defended by Krzysztof Kamiński.
We had to wait for the goals until the second half, and only the players scored there. In the 64th minute, Michał Chrapek blew from a distance and hit the crossbar, but Martin Konczkowski reached the ball the fastest in the penalty area and opened the result.
Five minutes later it was 2: 0 for Piast. This time, after a concerted action by the inhabitants of Gliwice, he decided to shoot from 16 meters and surprised Krzysztof Kamiński with a precise strike. The 34-year-old forward, who less than 7 years ago left Gliwice for the Italian Carpi as the top scorer of the top league, proved in his second match after his return that he can be a great strengthening of Piast.
At the very end, Kamiński also tried to defeat … Piast goalkeeper Frantisek Plach, but the Wisła goalkeeper successfully deflected the Slovak’s shot from his own half.
Piast Gliwice confidently and deservedly defeated Wisła P³ock 2: 0 and moved up to the 10th place in the table with the achievements of 26 points. Wisła is eighth with 30 points.
