18-year-old Koperski waited almost a year for this moment. “He had the courage to play soccer”

The young defender, despite the defeat of his team, can be satisfied with his performance. He was one of his team’s best players on the pitch.

He had waited almost a year for this moment

Koperski made his debut in the Gdańsk team on April 20, 2021. As he calculated himself, he had to wait 291 days for the next performance. When that happened, he came out straight away in the regular line-up.

– I think it was a solid debut on difficult terrain. In the first half, Philip had one occasion when he lost his cover. Besides, in many duels he played very precisely and steadily, he had the courage to play football. He took part in some of our good actions on the right side – said Tomasz Kaczmarek, Lechia’s coach after the match.

– I learned initially that I would play in the evening the day before the game, and so finally after breakfast and the briefing we had on Friday. There were some concerns, but bigger was the “banana” that appeared on my face when I found out that I was in the starting line-up. This is what you train to play at the highest level. I could have behaved better in the second minute situation, but I think I did what I could. The slide I had in the first half added confidence. Now the goal is to play as much as possible, the tired footballer admitted after the match.

Filip Koperski spent four years in Catalonia, where he played for Escoli, and then for UE Sants. Before leaving for Spain, he trained at Escoli Varsovia Warszawa. He returned to Gdańsk in 2020.
