A track worker interrupted her in the slalom. The skier roars: I can’t believe it

One of the track staff interrupted Vukadinova’s descent during Wednesday’s slalom competition. The man was at one of the gates he was supposed to pass by. He wanted to pick up a tool that had been inadvertently left behind after one of the posts needed to be repaired. The tool had to be taken from there, because there was a risk of loss of balance and a fall of the players, which in turn could lead to serious injuries. However, the man made a disastrous time to get the tool. Vukadinova was already on the track and she had to interrupt her descent. The organizers allowed her to repeat the trip, but this did not reassure the Bulgarian women. She expressed her anger on her own.

Eva Vukadinova furious after the incident on the track. “Don’t I deserve the same chance?”

– I still can’t believe what happened today. First of all, I have a lot of emotions right now. I can’t even describe what I felt after that first try. I was thinking “why me? Why didn’t this happen to any of the girls in the top 30? Could it have happened to any of them? Is it even fair?” She wondered.

Vukadinova did not fight for medals. After the first, repeated run, it was only 49. She did not finish the second run and was not classified. – Yes, I come from a small country compared to others starting today, but I will speak out. Even though I did get a duplicate, we all know it’s not the same. Especially when you have to ski to the chairlift, go up, then go down to the starting point and start almost immediately. Sure, maybe I’m not a top-level skier or fight for the podium, but I’ve also worked a lot to get here! Don’t I deserve the same chance as everyone else? She continued.

– I am more than disappointed and I cannot believe that it happened at a top-level sports event such as. I’m just glad I didn’t break my legs at that goal. Being on tour to fix something is one thing. The second is to leave a heavy object at the gate. And then pretending it’s perfectly normal. I am very sorry, but I am also happy and proud of myself for having fought to the end. The smile will not disappear from my face, nothing will break me – concluded the Bulgarian.

The competition was won by Petra Vlhova and she became the Olympic champion. The silver was won by Austrian Katharina Liensberger, and the bronze by Swiss, Wendy Holdener.
