WADA refuses to comment on Valieva’s questionable doping test

The World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA) refused to comment on the questionable doping test of Russian figure skater Kamila Valieva. It is reported by RIA Novosti.

In response to a request from the agency, WADA stated that they did not intend to comment on the Valieva case. The organization stressed that on this issue, journalists should contact the organizers of the figure skating tournament at the Beijing Olympics.

Due to suspected anti-doping rule violations by 15-year-old Valieva, the awards ceremony for the winners of the figure skating team tournament was postponed. This was first reported by Inside The Games. Valieva’s doping test could contain trimetazidine. The drug, although it is prohibited, does not affect athletic performance. According to sports lawyer Artem Patsev, the substance could have entered Valieva’s body with food.

Valieva became the best in the short and free programs as part of the figure skaters’ team tournament. Her performance helped the Russians win gold in this discipline.
