The expedition led by alex txikon has decided to abandon his winter ascent attempt to the Manaslu (8,163 meters) due to bad weather conditions, as confirmed by the Biscayan mountaineer himself in a video sent from the base camp of the eighth highest summit on the planet.
“Today is the last day we are here. It finally snows the following days and we are going to go down. It is unfeasible and the equipment is broken,” Txikon explained in those images.
“It has been a very bad winter, with two days of snow and two days of sun, and it has taken away our energy. There are people with more positivism and others less, but what is clear is that from the 16th snow comes and then strong winds,” he added.
“There is not much to do here”, concluded the Basque climber from that base camp to which they returned last day 29 after having to give it up for three weeks Because of the bad weather.
