The lawyer assessed the chances of Valieva to avoid punishment for doping

Sports lawyer Artem Patsev believes that Russian figure skater Kamila Valieva has a chance to avoid punishment for violating anti-doping rules. It is reported by Championship.com.

Patsev recalled that in 2018 he faced a similar case. “Then I managed to beat off our bobsledder Nadezhda Sergeeva. Her sample contained traces of trimetazidine. Then it turned out that the substance was in a harmless preparation of the amino acid complex, ”the expert said.

The lawyer admits that in the case of 15-year-old Valieva, we can talk about a contaminated product. He noted that it was necessary to confirm the presence of trimetazidine in the sample and to establish how the drug could have entered Valieva’s body. Patsev stressed that this substance is one of the non-special substances and for its use can face up to four years of disqualification.

Earlier, Inside The Games reported that Valieva’s dubious doping test was the reason for the postponement of the award ceremony for the winners of the team figure skating tournament at the Beijing Olympics. The athlete herself became the best in the short and free programs. She also performed a quadruple jump, becoming the first woman in the history of skating to complete this element at the Games.
