The Dutch Max Verstappencurrent Formula One world champion, declared this Wednesday, during the presentation ceremony of the Red Bull RB18 with whom he will compete in the 2022 World Cupin which new regulations are released, which does not feel “any extra pressure for this season” for being the defending champion.
“I don’t feel any extra pressure this season. I’ll just do what I always do because I don’t think there’s any reason to be any different. Now I’m just looking forward to the first time I get out of the pit lane with the RB18″ Verstappen said at the event, broadcast over the internet.
“I feel recharged and ready to ride again. I feel good and it is important that you prepare yourself in the best possible way physically, especially when things are changing with the reorganization of the regulations”, he added.
About his new car, Verstappen explained. “As for the car, we don’t know what to expect, so looking forward to seeing how the car performs on track for the first time”.
The Dutchman believes “the biggest adaptation that has to be made this season will be to the new regulations”. “We will need some time to get used to the car. Not that you jump on it and it’s an update from last year. The rest is pretty straightforward,” he said.
The team Oracle Red Bull Racing presented this Wednesday through the Internet and from the Red Bull Racing Technology Campus in Milton Keynes, the new RB18 with the team boss, Christian Hornerand the two pilots, Max Verstappen and the mexican Sergio Perez.
Horner, the team’s managing director, said: “With the new rule changes this year, the whole philosophy has changed, which means every component is different to last year’s car.
“It is a blank sheet for all the teams. When we get to the first race, the RB18 won’t look much like it does today. The evolution will be very fast as we go through the season”, he specified.
Horner believes that, due to the new regulation, “it’s a steep learning curve for everyone and it is a competition in progress between the first and the last race”.
“We think we have a good car for 2022, the RB18 is coming to life and to see it today is fantastic. It has been a great effort by the team and I’m looking forward to seeing him on the track now,” he said.
“We have the number one car this year and now the challenge is to keep it and defend that title with Max. The excitement and hard work of 2021 has galvanized the team and that means we come into 2022 in great shape for the season ahead.” (D)
