After the end of their careers, Olympians can count on an Olympic retirement pension. The benefit is paid on the basis of the Act on Sport of June 25, 2010, and the basic condition for its receipt is winning at least one Olympic medal. The retirement pension is addressed to athletes who have reached 40 years of age, and in the case of obtaining the puck before the law enters into force – 35 years.
How much is the Olympic pension? Slightly more than the average old-age pension in Poland
The amount of the benefit is determined on the basis of the base amount for members of the Civil Service Corps and taking into account the multiplier of the base amount by 1.4. In 2021 the base amount was PLN 2 031.96. A year ago, the Olympic retirement pension was exactly PLN 2,844.74 per arm.
Its value is therefore not much higher than the average old-age pension in Poland, which in 2020 amounted to approximately PLN 2,500.00. It is worth adding that no income tax or health or social insurance contributions are charged on this old-age pension. The benefit is due for life and is paid monthly.
To obtain them, simply submit an application to the Ministry of Sport and Tourism. What is worth emphasizing, the color and number of medals do not affect the amount of the pension, which is fixed for all awarded Olympians.

Let us remind you that he won his first Olympic medal four years ago during the competition in Pyongyang. At that time, the Pole and his friends took part in the team competition and already then secured an Olympic retirement pension.
