Fall! The Polish woman’s dreams fell in the snow. Ledeck’s ester too strong

Aleksandra Król advanced to the final round with eighth time. The Polish woman started the competition on the red route, which she covered in 42.96 seconds, which gave her eighth place at the halfway point. The Król rode a bit worse on the blue route, which she covered in 45.14 seconds. Despite this, the time – 1: 28.10 – gave Poland promotion to the 1/8 finals from the same position.

The rival King in the 1/8 finals was the representative of the Russian Olympic Committee – Polina Smolnetsova. This competitor took the 9th place in qualifying with the total time of 1: 28.16. Experience and the last form spoke in favor of our representative.

All this was confirmed in direct competition. The king started calmly and although she was 0.01 seconds behind her rival at the first timing point, she gained a significant advantage in the next part of the route.

Eventually, Król reached the finish line by 0.16 seconds via Smolniecow. The Polish woman did not even stumble just before the finish line. Our competitor lost her balance and fell over shortly after reaching the finish line. Fortunately, it had no influence on the result of the competition.

The king was eliminated in the quarter-finals

In the quarter-finals, the King faced an incomparably more difficult task. This time, the opponent of our representative was the star of not only this competition, but also all winter sports – Ester Ledecka.

The Czech woman is a multiple winner of the World Cup and the title of world snowboarding champion. She is also the Olympic champion from Pyongyang. At the same Olympics, Ledecka made history as the first woman to win a gold medal in two different disciplines. Apart from the gold in snowboarding, the Czech also reached for gold in the super-giant in alpine skiing.

Ledecka, unfortunately, turned out to be too strong for the Polish woman. The Czech started the ride better and on the second timing she had an advantage of 0.31 seconds. Ledecka had an advantage, despite the fact that she made a small mistake on the route. Unfortunately, the King had a bigger slip-up. Shortly before the finish line, the Polish woman lost her balance and fell over, so her time was not measured.

Our player finished the competition in the quarter-finals, which means that she finished in the best eight at the Olympic Games in Beijing.

The fact that it was she who won the gold medal in the Tuesday competition also proves the fact that the Ledek class. In the final, Czech defeated Austrian Daniela Ulbing from Austria, who won the silver medal. The third place was taken by a Slovenian – Gloria Kotnik – who in the small finals turned out to be better than the Dutch – Michelle Dekker.
