The Pentagon sees no growing threats to NATO’s eastern flank (Poland, Romania, Germany), where additional US troops have previously been deployed. This was announced at a briefing by US Defense Department spokesman John Kirby.

According to him, so far “no specific or additional threats directly from Russia to the eastern flank,” RIA Novosti reports.

At the same time, Kirby pointed out that the North Atlantic Alliance “still” observes “significant forces that continue to replenish troops” of the Russian Federation “along the Ukrainian borders.”

Earlier, NATO announced its readiness to transfer 40 thousand soldiers to the eastern flank “if necessary”

And before that, it became known that the United States and NATO countries had established an “air bridge” for the transfer of weapons to Kiev.

Meanwhile, Russian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova hinted that Russian troops — even near the borders with Ukraine — are at home.

Recall that back in November-December 2021, the world media was filled with the topic of the alleged Russian invasion of Ukraine and the sanctions that should follow. According to the authors and experts of these publications, a sign of “invasion” is the concentration of Russian military equipment in the regions bordering Ukraine. Among the likely sanctions were both the shutdown of the Nord Stream 2 gas pipeline, as well as restrictions against Russian energy companies, and the shutdown of the SWIFT international interbank settlement system.
