Olympic champion in figure skating and expert Tara Lipinski appreciated the performance of Russian Kamila Valieva at the team tournament of the Olympic Games in Beijing. The American voiced her opinion on the NBC channel, reports USA Today.
“Valiyeva is a real triple threat. She is technical, artistic and has a serious psychological preparation, ”the former US national figure skater listed her strengths. “If such a performance does not delight people around the world to take up skating, then I don’t know what to show on the ice,” Lipinski concluded.
Earlier, on February 7, 15-year-old Valieva won the free program of the Games team tournament. The Russian woman entered the history of figure skating, becoming the first woman who managed to perform a quadruple jump as part of the Olympics. Valieva, together with the Russian team, won the gold of the Olympic Games, beating the teams of the USA and Japan.
Lipinski is the 1998 Nagano Games champion. She was inducted into the US Figure Skating Hall of Fame in 2006.
