“The judges took away Peter’s medal”
Dawid Kubacki in the second round attacked the podium only from eighth place. However, he jumped brilliantly – 103 meters. After his attempt, he was in first place and waited for his rivals. The Russians did not overtake him: Dani³ Sadriejew, Evgienij Klimow, German Constantin Schmid and Kamil Stoch. However, Manuel Fettner jumped better than him and the Pole had to hope that Peter Prevc or Ryoyu Kobayashi would spoil his attempt. The Slovene, who was the runner-up after the first round, jumped 99.5 meters and lost half a point in the final classification for Kubacki.
The Slovenian media are outraged by the notes Prevc received for his jumps. The Slovene in the first round received four notes 18.5 and one 18. ± note 18 and four 18.5.

– I really don’t understand how the judges rated Prevc. The Chinese, Russian and American gave him only 18 points in the second round. This is too little considering its virtually error-free telemark. For a jump with telemark without a mistake, the starting point was 18.5, which was awarded to Prevc by the Norwegian and Austrian. But one of their assessments has unfortunately been canceled. The judges took his medal from him – admitted Jelko Gros, a former Slovenian ski jumping coach and currently a TV expert for team.svet24.si.

Gros also added that Prevc got too low marks in its first jump.
– The judges misjudged Peter. If I make a comparison and watch his jump and Dawid Kubacki in slow motion, Peter did not jump worse. He made a good landing, nothing had lifted his skis, and those half a point would have done more. Already in the first series he received too low grades. The judges rate him according to the average for this season. But Prevc is not the same jumper at the Olympics. He deserved that it was not the judges who would decide who will receive the medal – adds Gros for the daily “Zurnal24”
Robert Hrgota, the coach of the Slovenian national team, also complained about the too low scores for Prevc.
– Peter has nothing to complain about. He did well and should win a medal. He had no luck and no better judges. I think the judges’ ratings could be higher, but it’s more of a debate for the evening, at a party. However, I perceive this fourth place as a medal, admitted Hrgota.

– No matter which season is behind you, if you are second after the first round in the competition, the burden and pressure are present. After all, it’s my best result this season. But that doesn’t mean much. When I saw the green line, I only hoped that the leader had a big advantage over the runner-up. In the end I had to wait for the assessment. However, each judge made his own decisions, adds Prevc for delo.si.
In the Sunday competition on a normal facility in the 30 – apart from Kubacki – also other Poles. He was the sixth, Piotr lived the twentieth, and Stefan Hula the twenty-sixth.
There won’t be too much time for the celebration, however. Dawid Kubacki on Monday, February 7, will take part in the next competition on the normal hill in Zhangjiakou. At At 12.45, the start of the mixed teams competition is planned.
