Nobody expected it before the season, but it is the reality. Zagłębie Lubin and Legia Warszawa have to fight for relegation after the autumn round. Zagłębie with 20 points and the new coach, Piotr Stokowiec, was only the fourteenth before this match, with a four-point advantage over the relegation zone. On the other hand, Legia, after the victory of Bruk-Bet with Jagiellonia 2: 1, was again the last with only 15 points on the account. Aleksandar Vukovic’s band, which played, among others, without Luquinhas and Jędrzejczyk, he knew, however, that if he won in Lubin, he would leave the relegation zone for at least several dozen hours.
Boredom for 40 minutes and then it started. Legia wins in Lubin
For a long time, absolutely nothing happened on the grass in Lubin. The only thing that deserved attention was the air shot by Kacper Skibicki, who hit only the side net of Dominik Hładun’s goal. The hosts, in turn, had an optical advantage, which, however, resulted in very little.
Emotions at the stadium started in the 41st minute. It was then that Josue decided on a long shot and although he missed the goal, Maciej Rosołek was still in front of the goal and opened the score from close up.
Even before the break, the guests managed to deliver another blow. On the left wing, Kacper Skibicki got the ball into the open field, he went inside with it into the penalty area and after he played the ball, Bartosz Kopacz hit the ball with such an unfortunate head that he hit his own net. Originally, the judges decided that Skibicki was offside, but the VAR analysis showed that the goal was correct and led to the 2-0 break in Lubin.
The second part of the meeting started as best it could for the entire show. Already in the 48th minute, with a phenomenal shot from a distance, Patryk Szysz scored a contact goal for Zagłębie.
Zagłębie sniffed its chance and looked for equalization. Patryk Szysz tried his luck several times, but this time he showed off with some very good interventions. With time, however, Legia managed to regain control over this meeting.
At the very end, after Kopacz’s fatal play, he caught the ball in the penalty area and a few minutes after entering the field, he set the result of the match at 3: 1 for the Polish champions.
Legia Warszawa finally won in Lubin with Zagłębie 3: 1 and was promoted to a safe, 15th place in the table with the achievements of 18 points. Zaglebie is one position higher, with two points less.
