Russian President Vladimir Putin topped the list of the ten most mentioned people in Russian-language social media on the opening day of the 2022 Winter Olympics in China, RIA Novosti writes, citing a joint study with Brand Analytics.
Experts evaluated mentions in the Russian-language Network per day in the context of the Beijing Olympics on Friday, February 4. Experts have analyzed more than 100 million messages. Putin (8,241) was mentioned in them because of a meeting with Chinese President Xi Jinping and arriving at the opening ceremony of the Olympics. He surpassed the athletes in popularity. The audience was also interested in the question whether Putin will go to the opening of the Games together with the head of Argentina, Alberto Fernandez, who arrived in Moscow.
The second place was taken by commentator Dmitry Guberniev (5.365), who told the audience about the stop in Beijing. He is followed by hockey player Vadim Shipachyov (3.755) and speed skater Olga Fatkulina (3.212), who carried the team’s flag at the event.
