Scientists at the University of California at Berkeley said that the human brain perceives the world around us with a delay of 15 seconds. It is reported by the Daily Mail.

According to scientists, the so-called “field of continuity” is to blame for everything – a neurophysiological mechanism responsible for the integrity of the picture. It also gives us a sense of stability, since real human resources, according to data from Berkeley, will not “pull” the perception of the world as it is.

One of the authors of the 100-person study, Professor David Whitney, said: “If our brains were always updating in real time, the world would be a very disturbing place with constant fluctuations in shadow, light and movement. It would seem to us that we are hallucinating all the time.”

Instead, our brain is like a time machine. As the study’s lead author Dr. Mauro Manassi explained, “the brain sends us back in time, as if we have an application that merges our visual data into one impression every 15 seconds so that we can cope with everyday life.”
