Luis Podolski went to the first team and can play for the Polish national team

Over the past years, we have witnessed several waves of Polish emigration, especially from Upper Silesia to Germany. The scale of this phenomenon can be seen on the example of many players who play on German football fields on a daily basis, among whom there are many people with Polish roots.

Luis Podolski is another talent with Polish roots

The story of 17-year-old Luis Podolski, who started training with the first team, seems to be all the more interesting. While the young right-back is not related to the “original Poldi”, both fathers come from Gliwice. – I once thought they were related – explained Michael Tarnat, the director of Hannover 96 academy, who praises Podolski for his hard work and clearly declares that the footballer is ready to play in the first squad.

There are many more cases, because the son – Louis – has the last name almost the same as the young Hannover player. There are also many other Polish-German threads, because Podolski has a good chance to make a debut in the first Hannover team, led by Christoph Dabrowski, or rather Krzysztof DÄ…browski, who was born in 1978 in Katowice.

The former midfielder traveled the same path as Lukas Podolski, as at the age of six he emigrated with his mother to West Berlin (“Poldi” and his parents left for Cologne). At the beginning of the 21st century, the topic of appointing Dabrowski to the Polish national team appeared. However, she did not agree to it, because he had previously played for the German U-21 national team (9 games, 1 goal).

So far, there is no topic of appointing a “new” Podolski to the youth national teams of Germany or Poland. It is also not known whether the footballer would be interested in playing for our country, but he has the right to play in the Polish team, which makes it worth following his actions.
