The flag bearers of the Russian national team at the opening ceremony of the 2022 Olympics in Beijing have become known. This was reported on the website of the Russian Olympic Committee (ROC).
From the Russian team, the flags will be carried by skater Olga Fatkulina and hockey player Vadim Shipachev. The International Olympic Committee (IOC) asked the national teams to select two athletes of different genders to demonstrate the commitment of the Olympic Movement to the principles of gender equality.
Earlier, the Russian government announced the amount of rewards for Russian champions and prize-winners of the Beijing Olympics. Russian athletes who won gold medals at the 2022 Games will receive four million rubles from the state. For silver, the Olympians will be paid 2.5 million rubles, for bronze – 1.7 million.
The Winter Olympic Games in Beijing will be held from February 4 to 20. Athletes will perform in 15 disciplines in seven sports. A total of 109 sets of medals will be played. Russia will compete at the Games in a neutral status due to the sanctions of the World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA).
