Everything indicates it is. As it turns out, on Sunday, reconciled with the defeat, Adam Nawałka was informed by the president of the Polish Football Association, Cezary Kulesza, that it was not him who had been selected to play the role of the new team guardian.
Nawałka has already found out. He will not be a staff selector
Nawałka directly admitted that he had spoken to Kulesza by phone on Sunday and found out that someone else would be the new selector.
– I only found out today. The president called me and said that he had chosen another candidate. He thanked and expressed hope that I will support the Polish national team. It cannot be otherwise, because I have always been and will be cheering for our team. With me or without me, I am with the boys during the play-off against Russia – said who revealed the backstage of the last talks with the president of the Polish Football Association.
– We agreed on the contract on Thursday. The president called me when he was still in Turkey and said that we are now finalizing the talks. He offered a three-month contract. Earlier, however, two weeks ago, when we spoke for the first time, we agreed on a one-year contract. Now I was sticking to it too. I presented my short and long-term plan, my thoughts and the president took note of them – the former selector explained.
– Personally, I could accept shorter terms, but from the beginning I was thinking about my staff, which would have to terminate the contracts in the clubs where they work. As always, we are focused on success and victory, but play-offs are a great risk – Nawałka added. – I did not feel like a selector because I know how this business works. There is no signature, nothing is certain. And in the end, it actually wasn’t. The president called on Sunday and explained that the management board did not accept the situation in which I would get a one-year contract. He chose another candidate.
The new coach’s conference will start at 1.30 pm. Broadcast on the Łączy Nas Football channel. The play-off game between Russia and Poland in Moscow is scheduled for March 24.
