His participation in Spain points to the Sucumbisense as the first confirmed casualty for the National Road Championship, on February 20, in Quito.
In Spain starts the season for the Ecuadorian cyclist Jhonatan Narváez, announced by Ineos Grenadiers for the 68th edition of the Tour of Andalusia Route of the Sun, test that will be held between February 16 and 20.
With the tricolor rider, Ineos will present a template which also includes the Spanish Carlos Rodriguez and Omar Fraile, the British Tao Geoghegan Hart, Ben Turner y Ben Swift, as well as german Kim Alexander Heiduk.
In the British template there are several premieres, like those of Fraile, Turner and Heiduk, who will have their first race with Ineos, signed for this season. But highlights the appearance of Narváez, who will be in the Vuelta a Andalucía for the first time, preceded by an important poster.
“The Ecuadorian Jonathan Narváez (24) will also debut on the Ruta del Sol this year. is another runner young man who is preparing the British team so that in the future it will obtain victories. For the moment, he has won a stage in the Giro d’Italia and the general of the Coppi e Bartali, also in transalpine lands. In 2017 he was national champion of his country”, reports the Andalusian test portal.
It is precisely this last part of his record that the rider from El Playón de San Francisco will not be eligible for this season, as the Andalusian round coincides with the National Road Championship, test that it will run in Quito on February 20.
For this test, twelve WorldTour teams and ten ProTeam confirmed their participation for what the organization considers “an edition that can be historic due to its level” of squads and cyclists.
“We are probably before the best cast of teams of the last decades of the race. We are proud to be able to have this list of top-level formations in our race and we are absolutely convinced that, with this script, with the riders that will be part of the peloton and the stage design that we have drawn up, it will be a spectacular and very competitive Vuelta a Andalucía”, commented Joaquín Cuevas, general director of the race.
The start will be given on February 16 in Ubrique (Cádiz) and will travel 836.6 kilometers in five stages, with closure in the municipality of Chiclana de Segura, in the province of Jaen. (D)
