Carlos Alfaro Moreno, president of the Canarian institution, showed his disagreement with the decision not to allow public in the Yellow Night.
The president of Barcelona Sporting Club, the Argentine-Ecuadorian Carlos Alfaro Moreno, showed on Tuesday his disagreement with the resolution taken by the Emergency Operations Committee of Ecuador (national COE) in relation to the request sent to the desks of the government agency in order to have a reduced capacity in the Yellow Night 2022, which was not approved after learning of the decision made on Monday afternoon.
Alfaro Moreno asserted that an event like the Yellow Night, without the presence of the public, “represents a loss of almost a million dollars” for the club he presides over. Fact that considers “an irrecoverable economic impact”.
“A Yellow Night without an audience represents a loss of almost a million dollars, an irrecoverable economic impact. We respect the decisions of the authorities, but soccer also needs to reactivate economically,” Beto wrote on his Twitter account.
The Yellow Night 2022 and the match between Ecuador and Brazil will be played without an audience
The Barcelona holder, champion with the bullfighting squad in 1995 and 1997 as a player and in 2016 and 2020 as a manager, makes a call not to let the COVID-19 pandemic “continue to take away the joy of football”. Likewise, he maintains that it has been “demonstrated” that with protocols it is possible for fans to return to the stadiums.
“We have already shown that we can, with all the protocols, organize pandemic programming in a responsible and orderly manner. Let’s not let the (COVID-19) pandemic continue to take away the joy of soccer when we have already shown the world that Ecuador as a country can get ahead!”, he sentenced.
The national COE statement highlights: “From the analysis carried out, according to the available technical information and the current epidemiological situation, the national MTT2 (Technical Table No. 2, led by the Ministry of Public Health) suggests that the political parties are carried out without an audience, in order to protect the health and well-being of the population, avoiding a possible rebound in cases of COVID-19 due to said event and in view of the high transmissibility of the omicron variant.”
‘You can buy a ticket to watch football at the movies, but not to go to the stadium,’ says the president of the FEF after learning that Ecuador vs. Brazil will be played without an audience
Therefore, the National Risk and Emergency Management Service must “issue a guideline to prohibit the presence of the public in any massive sporting event, as long as the epidemiological risk analysis approved by the Ministry of Public Health does not provide otherwise.”
The Yellow Night is scheduled for next Saturday, January 29. Barcelona’s rival for the exhibition match will be Guayaquil City.

For this event, in which the Canarians will present the squad that will face the various tournaments in 2022, such as the LigaPro, Copa Libertadores and Copa Ecuador, the Argentine will also be present Carlos Tevez as the guest figure, thus continuing a tradition that has been carried out since 2016 with the arrival of former Brazilian star Ronaldinho Gaúcho.
