Pegasus is advanced spyware developed by the Israeli company NSO Group Technologies. It was founded in 2010 by former members of the Israel Intelligence Corps.
The NSO Group declares that Pegasus was created to “help government agencies investigate and prevent terrorism and crime, to save thousands of lives worldwide.”

“NSO products are only used by government intelligence and law enforcement agencies to fight crime and terrorism,” reports the NSO Group.
The problem is that – as indicated by an organization that cares about human rights, such as Amnesty International – sometimes Pegasus is also used to surveillance, inter alia, journalists, politicians, opponents and human rights defenders.
The Canadian think-tank Citizen Lab at the University of Toronto said on Tuesday that in Poland the victims of Pegasus, in addition to KO Senator Krzysztof Brejza, prosecutor Ewa Wrzosek and attorney Roman Giertych, were also Agrounii leader Micha³ Ko³odziejczak and journalist Tomasz Szwejgiert.

The agency said on Tuesday that Asher Levy left his position as president of the NSO Group in December. However, he himself argues that there is nothing controversial in his decision.
– I understand why people combine different facts. In fact, it has nothing to do with the latest news on NSO, Levy said in an interview with AP.
As the former president of the company explained, he was appointed to this position in 2020 by the former owners of the NSO Group – Novalpina Capital. The American investment group Berkeley Research Group took control of the company in the summer of 2021. It was then that Levy resigned, gradually reducing his involvement in the company’s activities.
“I did what someone is expected to do when a new fund takes over the management of the company,” Ashery Levy said.
