What do we know after two rounds of the Ultraliga? It is they who can thwart the plans of the favorites

The League of Legends European regional league dedicated to Poland is developing the local esports market. Two rounds of struggles have been held in the past weeks, which initially verified the potential of individual teams, and also introduced new contenders for the championship.

A breeze of freshness in Ultraliga

Ultraliga has undergone a lot of changes between two seasons. One of the most important was the merger with another European regional league, the Baltic Masters. Thanks to this, the game has been expanded from eight to ten teams. In addition, PDW and K1CK organizations withdrew from Ultraliga, which gave as many as four new entities space to compete.

One of them, alongside Goskilla, Zero Tenacity, and Iron Wolves, is Forsaken. The Polish team has been decorating the landscape of the amateur League of Legends scene for years, competing in the Grimorr and uGaming leagues. It gave young talents a chance to take their first steps on a professional level.

– The idea for joining the Ultraliga was born some time ago, but the priority was to be the second division. We had already had the first talks so that we could appear in the second Ultriga – said Kamila “Kamcia” Kocior, manager of the Forsaken team, in an interview with Sport.pl – there were doubts, however, whether we really want to aim for the second league and whether it will happen at all profitable due to the average audience.

As it turns out, joining Forsaken to the Ultra League might be some kind of a coincidence. The organization used the opportunity to buy a slot from K1CK and then began building internal structures to be ready to receive players. For those involved in the team’s development, it was a chance to break free from the shackles of the amateur scene and, above all, to show that it was possible.

– At the beginning, we wanted a Polish composition. We conducted open recruitment and invited specific players to it – says Kamcia, describing the backstage of building the team – more and more players from abroad came for the tests, which convinced us not to limit ourselves solely to Poles. In the end, we chose a team that likes to play together most of all.

As it turns out, the strategy works well in battle. Forsaken, despite the public’s disbelief, was placed at the top of the scoreboard with a score of 2-2, with two failures at the top of the table. Their goal is play-offs, but aim to mark their presence at the European Masters.

Unrivaled leaders

After two weeks of the 7th season of the Ultraliga, there is no single leader of the leaderboard. The summit is occupied by two teams – AGO ROGUE and Team ESCA Gaming – with four wins on their account. The break between the seasons meant a significant change for both teams in the starting five. The LEC team’s academy lists as many as three players, but in the case of the second formation, the modifications will affect the top and mid lanes.

– I personally like the changes in ESCE because they give the team a bit of freshness. It is known that Dawidsonek and Jaqen were the foundations of the previous squad, but this does not mean that ESCA does not exist without them – assesses Franciszek “Harpoon” Gryszkiewicz, Team ESCA Gaming shooter in an interview with Sport.pl – our game looks a bit different, and scaling in the middle will no longer be the only option. Many people said it was a weakness for the team, but I am convinced that the boys will prove their worth during the season.

Harpoon is one of the most promising players of the young generation of League of Legends. Together with his companion from bot lane, Igor “Marlon” Tomczyk, he is the power of the team. It is these two players who have won all the MVP titles awarded to Team ESCA Gaming this season. The minimum goal of the team is to reach the play-offs, for Franciszek’s private participation – a trip to the European Masters.

– At the moment, it seems that only AGO ROGUE is a team that can really thwart our plans. Zero Tenacity, which is a very good team, cannot be underestimated either – Gryszkiewicz says about his rivals – Illuminar Gaming looks lost, so I am not afraid of them yet. Iron Wolves is also interesting. Fun to play and control the start of matches, but then it gets lost. It’s worth watching them, I think they can surprise even better teams.

Who can threaten worms?

Two weeks is not even a quarter of all regular season. In the current situation, each team has the option to finish the game in the highest place in the scoreboard. The matches played allowed us to judge that not everyone has a real chance for this.

The leaders are AGO ROGUE and Team ESCA Gaming. On the other side of the pole was devils.one, which, unlike all the other teams, did not manage to win at least one victory. Near the top, however, there is the international Zero Tenacity squad, which can boast a score of 3-1.

Illuminar Gaming and Komil & Friends achieved the result of Forsaken Twins 2-2. This is a great result considering the restructuring of the composition of both organizations. A successful start shows that they are teams with potential – the question is whether they will be able to use it over the course of the games.

The ultraliga is played weekly on Tuesday and Wednesday. The transmission is available on the Internet and on TV on the Polsat Games channel.
