The South American couple had already beaten Nikola Cacic and Tomislav Brkic in the Adelaide International 2 tournament.

The duo made up of Ecuadorian Gonzalo Escobar and Uruguayan Ariel Behar managed to advance to the second round of the Australian Open in the men’s Doubles category.

After a duel of 1 hour and 36 minutes, the South Americans defeated the couple made up of Bosnian Nikola Cacic and Serbian Tomislav Brkic 6-4 and 7-5.

This was the second confrontation in less than a week between both pairs since in the semifinals of the Adelaide International 2 tournament, Escobar and Behar defeated them in three sets.

With this victory, the South Americans, seeded 15, will face the Germans Dominik Koepfer and Jan-Lennard Struff.

According to the tournament schedule, Escobar will play this Thursday along with Lucie Hradecka the first round in the mixed doubles modality. (D)
