Juventus wins with ease and advances in Coppa Italia

Juventus beat Sampdoria on Tuesday, 4-1, and advanced to the quarter-finals of the Coppa Italia. In the next phase, the current champion of the tournament will face Sassuolo or Cagilari, who will play this Wednesday, at 1:30 pm (GMT).

The Turin team put pressure on Sampdoria from the first minutes. Coach Massimiliano Allegri started the match with a very imposing midfield, with Frenchman Rabiot and Italian Locatelli. Thus, Juve won most of the duels in the central zone and gave few opportunities to the opponent.

The hosts were in danger with the Colombian Cuadrado, who managed to take advantage in “mano a mano” confrontations and was the main articulator of the team. After several chances created, the South American opened the scoring by hitting a free kick at the entrance of the area, in a low kick, in the 25th minute.

Less than a minute later, Juventus extended the score with Morata, who scored with Cuadrado and finished hard on high. However, the goal was disallowed by VAR due to a foul committed early in the play.

Despite the advantage, the team continued with the best opportunities, especially with the Brazilian Arthur. The midfielder had two chances to score, with two shots from outside the area. Both times, however, the ball skimmed the post. Even though he was in a bad phase, the athlete managed to trigger Juve’s runners and also positioned himself behind the opposing markers.

Right at the beginning of the second stage, at 6 minutes, defender Rugani headed in after Arthur’s cross and extended the advantage in favor of Velha Senhora.

In an unpretentious move, at 17, Sampdoria diminished with Andrea Conti, who hit a cross after a throw in the area. However, just four minutes later, Juventus opened the gap again with Argentine Paulo Dybala, who had just entered, and took advantage of the defense’s hesitation to steal the ball on the edge of the area and kick off goalkeeper Falcone’s counterfoot.

At the end of the match, young Aké was brought down in the area and the referee awarded a penalty for the home team. In the charge, Morata hit low in the left corner and scored the fourth goal of the team, sacrificing the victory and classification.

With the victory already guaranteed, Brazilian Kaio Jorge, a former Santos player, won a few minutes in the final stretch, but took little part in the plays.

Earlier, Lazio beat Udinese, 1-0, with a goal from Ciro Immobile in extra time, and also qualified for the next stage of the competition. In the quarterfinals, the team will face Milan.
