Chelsea take Brighton draw to third in Premier League

This Tuesday, the Chelsea drew with Brighton, away from home, by 1 to 1. The match, valid for the 24th round of the Premier League, was played at Amex Stadium and featured goals from Hakim Ziyech, for the visitors, and Adam Webster, for the home team.

As a result, the Blues follow in the third position of the English Championship and have 44 points – they are twelve away from the Manchester City, which has one less game. The club from the south of England, with 29 points, occupies the 9th position in the table.

Chelsea return to the field on Sunday, at 1:30 pm (Brasília time), when they receive the Tottenham by the national competition. Brighton, meanwhile, visits the Leicester City, at 11:00 am.

The game – The first half was well contested and balanced, but there were not so many clear goalscoring chances. Very intense, the home team, under the command of Graham Potter, put pressure on Thomas Tuchel’s team still in their defense field. However, despite the rare opportunities built, Chelsea managed to open the scoring.

In the 28th minute, Ziyech made a good score with N’Golo Kanté and received a pass from the French midfielder. The Moroccan kicked hard and low from outside the area, hitting the left corner of goalkeeper Robert Sanchez, who could not make a save.

In the complementary stage, Brighton continued to press and, thus, reached the tie. In the 15th minute, defender Webster took advantage of a corner from Alexis Mac Allister and, free between the opponents, headed very hard, swelling the nets and confirming the equality of 1 to 1.

The game between Burnley and Watford was also supposed to take place on Tuesday. However, the Premier League decided to postpone the match after a request from the home team, which would have only 14 players available. That’s because there were cases of covid-19 in the squad, injuries and some athletes are playing in the African Cup of Nations.
